to several senior government and military officials, the
last flight of Navy's EP-3E over China did more than just
take surveillance. "Peter Rabbit," the code-name for
the EP-3E, did in fact monitor the mainland's voice
communications and radar signals, but it also focused on
"Proforma." Proforma is a new source of electronic
intelligence that blurs traditional lines between
surveillance and preparation for war. It is used to
control, mislead, manipulate, and disable the computers
that modern military forces use. The "machine-to-machine"
war begins.

Attack Code Made Public
Security experts
have warned the public that there is a possible attack
that may occur because of a flaw in the Cisco Systems.
Code in the Cisco system could be used for an attack and
has
been posted to public mailing lists. The threat that
was measured at a level 2 has been upgraded to level 3,
which is only one of a handful of level upgrades.
This flaw has scared the experts because the Cisco routers
that can be affected make up a very large portion of the
Internet infrastructure.
