Hello TechNow Customers.  Thanks for Your Business!
February 2004

  • Single MyDoom culprit
Microsoft has intensified its search for the creator of Mydoom and its sister Mydoom.B and now believes the virus may have the same parent.  "Andy," the name left in the code by the author of MyDoom, has been linked to the B variant sent out two days later.  There has been other hints as well, including numbers that appear to designate the version, indicating it was created by a professional programmer and a message left in the second version stating "I'm just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry."

  • Linux goes mainstream
The Linux operating system, which was created over a decade ago by Linus Torvalds, is now being embraced by major global computer companies.  IBM, for instance, is running television commercials as well as online ads.  Linux is an open source, which means that anyone can access it and modify it as long as they share their modifications with everyone else.  It is also low cost which is grabbing the attention of both businesses and government agencies.
