Linux desktop system release by RedHat
A new version of Linux will be released by RedHat.
They announced Tuesday in London that they will be release
the Linux operating system and other programs customized
for desktop computers in corporations, universities and
government agencies. This less expensive RedHat
desktop includes the Linux operating system, a Web
browser, and office productivity tools. RedHat is
also more secure than Microsoft's offerings.

Microsoft has
come up with a new way to educate customers about security
using dialog boxes, warning messages and offers to
automatically configure security settings. In June,
Microsoft will launch this new Service Pack 2 for Windows
XP. When someone does something that is not
considered safe, a dialog box will appear. New PCs
will come with a preloaded utility that enables the system
to automatically configure its security settings.

Wi-Fi setup updated
Cisco
Systems will announce a new wireless module for its
Catalyst 6500 Ethernet switch. Their wireless
product is made up of three parts. Its Aironet
wireless access points transmit the Wi-Fi radio frequency
signals. The Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE)
provides centralized management of the access nodes.
And the Catalyst 6500 Ethernet switch provides the link
from the wireless network to the customer's data network.
The new module fits into the Catalyst 6500 Ethernet switch
and will provides more intelligence so that more
functionality can be centrally controlled by the WLSE.

Wi-Fi setup updated
Sasser,
the fast-spreading computer worm, has infected several
businesses, banks, and government offices. It is
believed that more than 1 million PCs have been affected.
The virus reportedly causes machines to move slowly or
reboot for no reason. There have been at least 4
variants found since Sasser was discovered over the
weekend. It is not malicious, so it does not destroy
or alter any information in the computer .
