Overview

Students will learn the skills necessary to perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting of a Microsoft Windows 2003 Network.  Also, this course will prepare the student for taking the exams necessary to achieve the MCSA Certification.  The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential is for those who will manage & troubleshoot a Windows 2003 Network.

This course will help the student prepare for the following Microsoft Certified Professional exam:
Exam 70-270: Implementing & Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Exam 70-290: Managing & Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
Exam 70-291: Implementing, Managing, & Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services
Exam 70-299:
Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network

Plan & implement a Group Policy strategy to centrally manage users & computers in an enterprise
Deploy, manage, & troubleshoot software that is deployed using Group Policy
Implement sites to manage & monitor Active Directory replication
Plan & implement the placement of domain controllers, global catalog servers, & DNS servers that are integrated with Active Directory
Plan & manage operations masters
Backup, restore, & maintain Active Directory
Plan & implement an Active Directory infrastructure that is based on a directory service design that an enterprise architect provides
Describe the process of designing an Active Directory infrastructure & network infrastructure
Design a forest & domain infrastructure, a site infrastructure, & Group Policy, an administrative structure, & a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
Create a design for network connectivity & design a name for resolution strategy as well as a network access infrastructure

Prerequisites

This Boot Camp is not for the faint of heart.  Passing 4 exams in 14 days requires lots of advanced preparation, hard work & hands-on experience.  A TechNow Training Advisor will assist you in determining your readiness.  Candidates certified in Windows 2000 or other IT certifications or those with over 3 years of hands-on experience will most likely qualify for this program.  Short of this, candidates should possess the following: 
Experience with DOS or command line utilities
Strong Windows 2000/XP interface skills
The ability to install operating systems & configure them
Experience with networking & networking protocols, especially TCP/IP
Experience supporting a Windows-based network
A strong willingness to work hard & succeed
