Course Overview:

This course includes in-depth presentation and labs on installing, configuring, maintaining, and operating the Oracle VM environment: Oracle VM Server, Oracle VM Manager, and Oracle Virtual Machines. Understanding the Oracle VM environment in detail is critical to architecting a successful Oracle VM implementation and deployment.  Planning and sizing appropriate parameters in support of various types of virtual machines is both discussed and demonstrated with performance monitoring tools.  Advanced labs include configuring Oracle VM Server to access a SAN through iSCSI, detailed labs on OCFS2, and setting up VLANS and networks to enhance security and performance.  Oracle VM is the most cost effective virtualization solution on the market today, but it requires expert knowledge to be correctly configured to perform in a scalable enterprise. Although based on XEN, Oracle VM Manager is an effective tool to manage Oracle VM and is thoroughly presented. Customization of text configuration files and the command line interface to Oracle VM administration is also covered.

Attendees to OR-485: Oracle VM Administration will receive TechNow approved course materials and expert instruction.

Instructor comments: The instructor was great, he did an excellent job of covering the course materials and giving real world examples of use cases. Easily one of the best instructors I've had in the numerous technical classes I have taken.

Facilities comments: Our room at the Hilton Airport was evidently directly below the laundry room with very loud washing machines. This proved to be a big distraction.
