Course Overview:

This course provides students with the understanding of Applications Infrastructure Technologies in Windows Server 2008.  This course is intended to allow individuals who already have experience with Applications Infrastructure Technologies in Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003 to upgrade their skills to Windows Server 2008.

Attendees to MS-6417: Updating Application Platform Technology Skills to Server 2008 will receive TechNow approved course materials and expert instruction.

  • Server Roles and Initial Configuration Tasks
  • Overview of IIS 7.0 Application Server
  • Managing Web Applications with IIS 7.0
  • Troubleshooting Web Servers
  • Introduction to WSS 3.0 Platform
  • Configuring and Managing WSS 3.0
  • Configuring and Managing Terminal Services
  • Configuring Storage

Prerequisites:

  • Experience in planning, implementing, managing or supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003, including Active Directory and Network Infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of networking for example, TCP/IP and DNS
  • Designed a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Network Infrastructure
  • Designed Security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network
  • Installed, Configured and Administered Microsoft Windows 2000 Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Vista
